hi all,
i have a 1991 explorer and the rear gate is rusted out horribly.origionally i was gonna slap on some bondo, but i think its a little too far gone for that. I was thinking also about getting it fixed at a body place, which i was told would run me around 5-800 dollars.

My other option was to see if i could find an explorer at a junk yard (maybe one that got in a front end collision) and get the gate off of it. I'm thinkin the likely hood of getting that exact year is prettty low. Would it be possible to find one from a different year explorer that would fit ? If so, what years?

thanks, and sorry for the long post,

Jeff aka Lamah

There's a quick fix for your problem......there's two right here. :)

Thanks for the plug Leebo, but mine is dented up high on the right side. It's still straight and no rust though. Trim and paint are red and black. Glass is shot. I'll sell it for $50+shipping. Struts included.

Lamah, Any of the 91-91 gate should fit the same(it might even go into the 95+'s, but I'm not sure) Salvage yards should have them or can find them(most good ones are linked by computers now). Don't know the cost, but I'd think cheaper than $800 to buy it and have it painted.
