I was do some maintenance on the explorer today. I am curious to what the "part" above the "DPFE" (EGR PRESSURE SENSOR) is. It is metal and has to bolts fastening it and one connector. I took it off and the back of it was open and dirty. Took some throttle body cleaner and sprayed it in there to clean it...hope I didnt mess something up:) Thanks Nel:)

Um it might be the EGR valve itself?
Was there a metal tube going down to the exhaust manifold from it?

There are many things held onto the intake and or EGR bracket with two bolts that you can remove that might be dirty. :) The EGR valve itself, the pressor sensor, the vaccum switch, (all EGR stuff) or the IAC as noted above all come to mind.
