So, my project "Frankentranny II" (1996 EB) is ongoing till I get it as perfect as I can.
Cluster lights and needles are out, except for the Tachometer needle and light. I know how to replace the plug-and-play cluster light bulbs. Type 194 or universals off of ebay should work long enough. I know I'm supposed to replace all 6 of them.

My question is, how do I go about replacing the cluster needles? Do they pop out? Is it cake to replace or can I really screw up the positioning on them?

Also, where do I get these for CHEAP? lol

Advice appreciated.

TIA! :shifty_ey

The needles just pull off and on.

The issue is calibrating them (Pushing them on at the right spot).
I used a scan gauge in the odb2 port, and pushed the beedle on at the same speed the scangauge was showing.

Needles have to come off a wreck. I have a cluster from vroomzoomboom that I could pull the needles off of for you if you really need them.

Im still not sure I understand why you need them though. The needles don't have bulbs, they are just reflecting using the other 6 lights in the back of the cluster.

Oh! I thought the needles were self-lighted. DOH. Well, that answered my question. Thanks! :)

np. Your job just got way easier.

you can buy the 194 bulbs pretty much anywhere (any auto parts store, walmart) unless you've found some great deal on ebay...

Ok, TY Koda. I'll post a pic when done here.

While I was inside the cluster, I swapped the annoying "always on" Door ajar light, with the CEL that was out. Replaced all 6 134 bulbs, also took apart the cluster and cleaned it. There was dust and dirt caked inside the cluster and fogging behind the glass so I cleaned that. I'll post a pic tonight.

As long as the subject is needles... has anyone come across a Ford product with similar sized needles as the explorer... only in red or orange?

Sorry about the fuzzy picture. Is was as dark as heck. Anyways, here is the finished product!
