First off my stereo sounds like crap right now so I'm going to be swapping out the speakers as well as replacing the stock sub or running a 10'' sub off the stock amp.

My stereo system to the best of my knowledge is the Audiophile/Luxury system with the center console mounted six disc changer :fire: (The 6-disc has been slowing down/turning off/not reading cd's/ and just making crazy noises by the way)

My question is in the "quick reference" it says all the speakers sizes are 5.5'' x 7.5'' soooo my crutchfield "vehicle specific" search returned a lot of 6x8's, 5x7's, and 5 1/4''...will these fit in the stock enclosures? also will i need to do any altering to the stock wires for these speakers?

Under the "Quick Reference" section it also mentions that I have a 4'' and 1'' in a sealed enclosure (haven't removed door panels yet so im not sure if its all 4 or just the front), does that mean that they are just mounted into the 5.5x7.5 hole using a bracket?

Thanks for your help.

A little update.. my 6-disc changer is no longer acting up. But i still need an answer of the speaker size in the Audiophile speaker mounts..Can I fit 6x8's in them?

For those wondering how i fixed my cd players erratic behavior.

I took apart my center console, pulled it out and took apart the entire changer.
Blew all the dust off the electronics and wiped the lens with a q-tip with some rubbing alcohol on it..put it back together and plugged it in and it is finally in workin order again. The problem with it was that it would all the sudden make crazy sounds and just slow down or turn off entire then refuse to read anymore cds "Bad CD" "CD e2" ect. but those days are over (hopefully)

as far as I know, the 5x7 and 6x8 are the same for mounting. Chrysler is the same way. I had infinity (who markets their speakers as a 5x7/6x8) in my Mustang and Dakota.

I equpped Infinity Kappa 575.2 CF in 5x7-Size in my 99 XLT and my 06 Eddie, on my Ex-90 XLT I equipped 5x7" MacAudio, enclosure size is the same on all models. Most HQ-Systems you´ll find will be sized 5x7", the 6x8" I found had been too large to fit.

The stock Ford speakers are 5.5" X 7.5" - most aftermarket 6" X 8" speakers will fit. The two-way Audiophile speakers have a 4" driver and a 1" tweeter installed in a sealed enclosure that fits directly into the 5.5" X 7.5" mounting hole in the door.

regards,

Jeff
