1997 Explorer
Hi ill keep this short lol but ive got a 1997 explorer with the 4.0 and a 5 speed that runs wonderfully on starting fluid. So assuming it was a fuel issue (and not having a scan tool that gives live data) one fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator and new crank and cam sensors this things still not starting. The only things left that I can think of are the injectors which is possible because we hooked up a noid light and they are getting power (who knows if its at the right time) or the computer.

Any thoughts?

It does not have PATS idk if others of this year do but this one does not and the fuel pump shut-off switch is not triggered

anything helps --- Thanks

Welcome to this forum! Do you have a check engine light with a code?
Thanks! Nope they're are no codes or check engine light. Its been sitting since 2019 and probably hasn't run long enough to throw a code since

If the starter runs, with fresh fuel and enough fuel pressure it should start.

Exactly my thought that's why i'm so confused i'm getting about 45psi at the rail, it has fresh fuel, and cranks and starts off of starting fluid. The injectors are getting power (I don't know if its enough power or at the right time) because when I plug a noid light it flashes when cranking.

Did the spark plugs fires?

Sorry forgot to respond it turned out to be the injection oddly enough I replaced all 6 injectors and it runs like new

Injectors that sit long enough will become gummed up and stick closed. Always a good idea to pull them and clean them out when the vehicle if left sitting for long periods. Glad you solved your issue.

That makes sense it had sat for a while the tags were from 2017 it originally had no pressure at the rail but once I fixed that it still wouldn't start and as a last resort I threw some cheep injectors into it and it started right up after that I replaced those with some not ebay injectors lol and it's running great

Thanks for coming back and posting the solution! May help others in the future

You can get good injectors on eBay
And bad ones too…
