1997 clunking and binding when turning

I'm not really sure were its coming from but since I filled the front diff with fluid it is much more faint and is now more of a grinding feeling and when turned to far it won't move with out throttle. It not clunking really that much and is not very loud when it does. The front diff was about a quart low.I didn't really look at the bearing and race but they seemed ok.really its a whine howl sound I think from the front when being turned and then the more I turn it gets a grinding feeling and occasional pop but its not bucking me like it did before I filled the front.

Also I only replaced the one driver side rear seal because it was leaking.

My explorer is still clunking and grinding when I turn but i am thinking its rear now.I have a theory but wanted someone to tell me if it is a possibility or not.OK what I'm thinking is the rear is slipping or something or is locked up and making it posi and making both rear tires turn the same speed (which would make a noise by itself) thus if one tire is slipping then it would engage the control trac auto 4wd and make it worse. It makes noise and stuff more when on pavement or hard dirt.I don't know really how I would prove this or what is wrong.I came up with this solution because I noticed on my dirt drive way when turning i would leave small ruts like a tire was excessively spinning. And i thought it made sense it would buck on dry pavement because I have mud tires so the cant slip real easy on dry pavement. Any solutions?

If an LS rear end gets bad enough all of the friction material wears off the plates and now you have metal to metal plates.

Thus the grabbing sensation.

I just got rid of a 2004 Expedition for this reason. The wife would not let me drop the rear end and rebuilt it.

Her solution?

A 2014 Fusion Titanium!

Its not LSD its open. Also i have a new problem, I pulled the 4wd fuse to make triple sure it is not in 4wd and it didn't lash the 4wd lights so it plugged the fuse back in and tested it and now it wont engage mechanically or light up when I turn the switch. Also I don't know if this help with the original problem but now i think i broke something power-steering cuz there is power-steering fluid everywhere by the fill area and the cap was have off but i know 100% it was on right before cuz i checked it earlier. Also I have a wheel shudder when I turn the wheel.WTF IS WROOUNG WITH THIS POS.I Just bought it about a month ago and it had 0 problems when I got it now boom everything is going wrong and i cant afford a new vehicle.

PROBLEM SOLVED.The dumbasses st the parts store gave me the wroung fluid for my rear end.Got the correct fluid in it now and its much better.I still dont have 4wd but I think thats because I packed the front with grease cuz I thought the frount was what the problem was.

OK not problem solved,. It did have the wrong fluid but its still doing it again. Also I now have absolutely nothing 4wd no lights no sounds and no mechanical movement.Checked fuses they we good but the brown wire had no power.Any suggestions( is the diff being the way it is causing the 4wd problem)?:feedback:
