Hello everyone,
Over the last two days, I installed a new torque converter and flywheel. After putting everything back together, explorer starts up and runs. When I put it in reverse and drive, the gears engaged and it moves. I then shifted into reverse and backed off the ramps. After the explorer makes it to level ground, all gears stop engaging, except park. Then on the cluster, the O/D light starts blinking. I took it completely apart and double checked everything, and yet again, same thing happened. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Any help very appreciated.

Fluid topped off? Did you mess with the internal valve body harness at all?

I did top off the fluid. I didn't do anything with internal harness. I was thinking the valve body gasket could be the problem. But I wasn't 100% sure.

One thing I learned is to war warm up the engine completely, run the tranny through the gears on stands with no load to get the fluid going then if successful put it on the ground and check level then test drive, my transgo kit I installed mentioned something about addressing a computer error after a perfectly fine rebuild. Maybe try resetting your computer . Also did you prime your new torque converter before install? And really you need a scanner to find out what the code is as it could be dozens of different things. Also the most obvious question would be did you check the fluid level once it was on level ground while running and warm? I wouldn't worry about internals if all you did was the converter the only thing you could have messed up would be the pump gears if you didn't seat converter properly which I think you would know though because it should sound absolutely awful on start up.
