I have a 97 Explorer XLT 4x4 with 102,000 miles. The ABS light came on recently and there is a low speed noise at the front hubs when braking.
I had the ABS checked on a test set and the reading stated "Hydraulic Pump Open". Repair man indicated that the problem was probably with the ABS control module but could also be in the hydraulic pump.
Is there any way to determine where the problem is without replacing the ABS module first.
I don't want to just throw $ at the problem.
Thanks in advance,
Ron
