Well, it is official, the front driveshaft on my '97 Mounty is shot. Ordinarily this wouldn't be a problem, but I am supposed to leave tomorrow for week long hunting trip and I can't tow my trailer with my car... So my question as two-fold:

1) How long can I drive (and tow) with the front shaft removed on my AWD? I would like to drive to the cabin and change the shaft out one night while I am up there...

2) What is the part number of the shaft I need? I have searched Rockauto and cannot find anything...

Be advised that your mounty can roll in park if front shaft is removed.

I've driven several months,(probably 2k miles) and put the shaft back in with no noticeable problems. The truck will roll a bit, mine seemed to roll forward more than backwards.
