The EX runs so much better with the new Brake booster I'm excited to get up early tomorrow when its cool outside to start it again. I don't think there will be any stalling.

What was your symptoms mine loses all vacuum after 10 seconds when i shut it off

The only symptom I had was when it was cold out that when I started it it would stall. Then I'd start it again, it would stall. Then I'd start it and it would rev up rather high. Then it would struggle between close to stalling and high until it warmed up enough. Literally as soon as the booster wsa installed all that stopped. It's worth nothing that the brake pedal effort was very hard. However I only knew that today because I hadn't driven it ever until today.

I put 10 miles on it today and enjoyed every mile. Kinda wish I wasn't giving it away...

You'll have to buy another one to enjoy yourself, I suggest two.

I really wish that red eddie bauer I looked at in December didn't have title issues. I'll keep my eye out. But I'm pretty proud of this one for sure!

I have four and each has been a little different, mainly by the features and the prior owners. You have that one from a lot of neglect, two of mine were like that, my last two. My first two were trouble free for many years and only needed common easy work to maintain.

I did just have to fix one thing which has been an issue for three of my 2nd gens. I have driven each of these from the right seat, with my left foot only, and that puts a slightly different pressure/angle onto the gas pedal. In normal operation it is rare to have the pedal bracket begin to break from the firewall, the three spot welds start to break. I just had my latest 98 do that, and it almost disabled the truck, while on my route. A home in drilling the two holes to install bolts and washers to secure the bracket, it broke it off completely this time. So I had to flatten the firewall out a little, file a bit on the bracket, and it took a little movement of one hole to have them line up. That issue was mentioned on here well before it happened the first time with my 99, I'd guess in 2004 or close there. The bracket is made fine to handle straight force to the pedal, but the three spot welds are in line and don't resist sideways movement well. The two holes I drilled for each of the trucks have been offset, one to the left, and the lower one to the right. The OEM nuts with huge integral washers work great to support the firewall and bracket there.

That's just something to check with any vehicle with some mileage, by hand get down there and be sure the pedal bracket doesn't move at all sideways. I checked that with my second 98 and noticed it was a little loose, so I fixed that one right after buying it. This one was years later, and I'd forgotten about how it was with my first one in 2007 or so.

Try to find a 98-01, depending on your preference for the fender flares, colors and features. I don't like the 99-01 flares, and the flares were less common before 99. I like the two tone Mountaineers the best, the red and green versions. The Limited was the only one with a memory seat, but that can be added if you like to do some wiring, the special seat track and module, plus new six wires into the door plus a few around the seat. Avoid the V6 for sure, and look for the models with the two spoke steering wheel(controls for AC and radio).

My mom had a two tone red Mountaineer AWD new, I loved that thing.

Find one and any popular Mustang 17x8" wheels, they fit well.

The alignment turned out good. Drives really nice. Still had the stalling issue this morning when it was cold out. So that is interesting. Once it warms up it's totally normal. I wonder if the vacuum reserviour is bad.

Check for intake gasket leaks

Donalds, on these intake manifolds, does it use all bolts? Or are there studs on any of the bolt holes?
That's something someone else can help with
I just don't know that motor that well
Guess its time for a 5.0 with a cam or something

The bolts are normal except for a couple with stud on top for mounting the heater hose pipe and a ground strap. Like water pump bolts, be easy with the corner four, like those they can seize inside the intake hole and break.

How tight was the PCV grommet? That would be shrunk after 20 years but it shouldn't leak enough to effect the idle etc.

/\ Did Ford use the E7 male torx head on the 5.0 studs ? Like on the 4.0's..... not a common socket to have.... just a heads up...
