Does it shake on a cold start or when warm? Or all the time?
What happens if you give it gas? Does the shaking get more violent or do you hear any noise? Any exhaust fumes or white smoke?
What has been recently changed or done on the car maintenance wise? It's possible a defective set of coils could be causing a misfire in one or more cylinders. Bad fuel could also be an issue-- it may be worth check the fuel filter and also chucking in a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to see if it helps.
Most importantly, one item you didn't mention, check the oil asap. No oil or bad oil could easily be the cause.
Might be a long shot but when is the last time your throttle body was cleaned? Ive seen sever different vehicles idle rough due to a restricted idle air port on/at the butterfly plate. It smooths out when given the slightest bit of throttle due to air freely passing by at that point but idles like crap.
