So I'm just starting a better build post. I'm currently building a 98 ex. I am going with my setup from my last time. It's a d44hp and a d60. I will be using 2.5 18" King air shocks pushed my from axle forward like I did on my last build. I'm using 63" rear leafs on the rear. I have installed my manual 4406 and now trying to figure out the vss which will be in the tail shaft. I'm using a steering box from my 91 explorer. Relocating my oil filter. It's a cool little project. I will update as I go.

Looking forward to watching the progress. Looks like it will be a nice build:chug:

You don't need the VSS in the 4406..... your 98 already has its vss in the rear axle
Now if you are saying the dana 60 you are installing in the rear does not have a VSS THEN you should be able to use the signal from the 4406 in its place..... I think the computer will be happy with the VSS signal from the t case.

Yeah both my axles are older front is out of a 78 f250 it's a Dana 44 hp chromemolys, lock-rite, 5.38 gears and my rear Dana 60 is out of a 1979 f250 welded carrier with 5.38s. I picked my 4406 out of a 97 f150 and I am reusing the steering box out of my 91 ex.
