1st and 3rd gen taillights on 2nd gen?

hello my fellow enthusiasts, just wondering if anyone knows if i could fit a 1st gen or 3rd gen sport taillight on my 99 sport? or maybe even an early 2nd gen?

No. Not without changing the hatch for the early gen II, and the Gen 1 and 3 are impossible.

Have you looked at yours and the ones you are considering swapping in? They aren't even shaped the same. Not to say it couldn't be done, but it will take a lot of work by someone who is pretty good with doing real body work, and I don't mean slapping bondo on.
