I have a 1999 Ford Explorer, V6, 4WD. I bought this used, and noticed that it will not hold back in first gear. It will hold back until i get up to around 30mph, but after that, it is like i am in neutral. i can slam the gas, and it will take off (hesitation first), but when i let off, it is like i am in neutral again. Normal driving seems kind of sluggish also. I can barely feel the shifts up through the gears, and i feel like it is slipping a little, but i am not familiar with the explorer's. Does this sound like i should do the valve body rebuild? If so, i will need to read everything really closely because all that i have done with a tranny is change the fluid and filter.
If the rebuild is in store here, how do i know which tranny i have, and which parts to order? I would appreciate any help.
Thanks
Jason
