2 Problems

Well now I'm having a hard time finding which one would be the right part, since it's not the 14B422 part...

Call up or go to your local dealership parts counter and see if they will give you the correct full part # that you need or you can just call around to the local parts recyclers and ask them if they have any from a 2006-10 explorer.
I understand your frustration since I just went through purchasing a new fog lamp assembly for my Mounaineer and discovered after the fact that the part I needed (part numbers differed by 1 number) was not the same for both the EX and Mounty and the part I really needed was 3x more expensive and all the nice custom fog light conversions are only for the EX (don't fit the Mounty because the lens shapes are different). Sigh.

I know when it comes to cars of any sort and myself, if it can go wrong, it will. But I called the local parts desk and he said it has been superseded by 7L2Z-14B422-A. I can still get it cheaper online, but its for ~$180. He wanted to order it for me for $232 + tax and shipping.

Sorry guys, I've been busy and didnt have time to respond. I got a new sensor and it didn't fix it. Installed it correctly, same code was popping up. Reset it, popped up again. Checked and cleaned all connections under the seat, and no pinched or worn down wires. I can't figure it out.

Well, if you haven't checked the airbag sensor relay bracket (14B058) it may be worth a shot to see if for some reason the connection is bad there.

Take a look at the diagrams on fordparts, but I believe that it is under the center console. Meaning that you have to pull the center console storage compartment to get at it.

You're right. Found it. I'll let you guys know.

Yeah I tore the thing apart and checked every connection I could see. There is nothing wrong. No snags, shorts, etc. Honestly the only thing I haven't tried this time is disconnecting the battery for a little while (just thought of that).

Do you happen to have the optional side curtain airbags on your vehicle? At this point it is starting to sound like you are going to need Ford to do a pinpoint test to figure out exactly what airbag is sending an improper voltage that is setting off the DTC.

Yes I do. What kind of cost do you think I'll be looking at to get this fixed?

Don't know you would have to call, but in the mean time you could track down the connector going to the side curtain airbag on the passenger side and see if it is just that. If the side curtain ends up being bad you can go the $40 side curtain airbag delete option by putting a resistor in the connector for that side.

I think at this point, I'm calling the local dealer and the local AAMCO and just go with whoever is cheaper. I'm not going to put anymore money into it without it getting fixed. Thank you so much for your help though!

I agree, just throwing that out there with it being right before the holiday in case you wanted to pull some more pieces of trim off of the vehicle and track down where the side curtain connects in (in the kick panel somewhere?) as a final connection check before you let someone else track down that gremlin.

They couldn't figure it out and I'll have to bring it back in. The two codes they couldn't clear was B2290 and B2295. They don't think its the airbag, but might be wiring under the carpet that I couldn't get to. There were 3 other codes they cleared out that didn't come back. B1318, B2097, and B1342. This is going to be a pain to get fixed, I can tell it now.

Alright, well I took it back, and AAMCO said they are physically not capable of fixing it, thatd I'd have to take it to the dealership to get it properly diagnosed and fixed. The dealership is twice as expensive. So it looks, like it will have to wait.:(

Well, everything says somewhere on the passenger side is the issue, but the 1 DTC that is puzzling to me is the B2097... can't figure that one out. Basically there is a short/bad ground somewhere (we already knew that) and the system is getting too low of a voltage from either the passenger side airbag or the front dash passenger airbag. This is a tough one and I am not surprised that AAMCO couldn't do anything about it.
