I was wondering if it would be possible to do a 4 wheel drive swap on a 2005 explorer with using ford ranger 4 wheel dive components if anyone had tried this or attempted it let me know if it can work or not

Might be easier if you used the Explorer components, but I'm sure it's possible.

Ranger should have a different front end and the differential isn't going to bolt up. Rangers didn't have the 5r55s transmission, so you'll have to tear the whole thing apart to swap the output shaft. I'd suggest a manual t case so there's no electronics to fool with. The ranger has different knuckles, not sure if they fit your ex. But they use smaller brakes.

I see yeah i was thinking of using just another ex but wasnt sure if a ranger would work

A Ranger will not work. Either find a wrecked Explorer to swap parts from or sell yours and buy one that is already 4x4. Either way, good luck!
