2000 EB Heater blower... it just won't work

I bet if you take the power distribution box apart you will find discolored wiring where the relay plugs in-on the high current leads to the blower.

Causing this

i think you have a wiring/connection problem somewhere. you don't have a SHORT or it would blow a fuse. what you probably have is an OPEN CIRCUT.

Already looked at that. I have good blower when I put a bypass jumper in place of the blower controller. What I don't have at this point is ANY blower if the controller is in the loop. Has me suspecting the blower control circuit (I forget the circuit number) but it feeds pin 3 on the blower controller connection.

Since you replaced the EATC, I suggest you follow the troubleshooting steps again. This should narrow it down for you.

Have you checked the blower motor relay yet?

That's essentially what I'm doing next... I forget which pin test it is, but there's one that tests that controller pin 3.

Relay is good. Replacing the EATC corrected half of the issue; the relay didn't trigger before.

The only thing stopping me right now is actually trying to get troubleshooting info for my ARC. Seems like if I'm pulling the dash apart again, I'd like to go after both problems.

Good luck to you. Let me know if there is anything else you need from the shop manuals.

Lol... I really need section 204-05: vehicle dynamic suspension from the 2000 explorer manual. Most specifically, the pin tests. Otherwise, Ima have to drag this thing 2 hours north to have my brother put it on the "real" scan machine. I've only a pocket scanner so I can't pull anything but P codes, thus I can't look into the suspension system.

I will check it out and get back to you. I'll do what I can!!

Any help's appreciated. It's hard being a busted up ex grunt and a full time student/dad/husband/mechanic/chef.

:salute:

Suck it up - You can do it!!

Failure is not an option. :salute:

Problems solved!

After installing the new EATC, I still had no blower. I had fixed one problem, not triggering the blower relay, but still had no blower.

Ran through the diagnostics again and it indicated the blower controller. Just got a new one and installed it and BINGO... full variable blower.

My guess is I started out with a EATC problem and while trying to troubleshoot it with a junk meter, I likely crossed something and cooked the blower controller. Word to the wise (as if it isn't common sense) use good tools and be careful when probing electronic parts.

Thanks for all the help!

Thanks for the update. Nice job on the fix. :biggthump
