2000 mercury mountainer new to me

The inside lights come on when I open the driver door but do not come on when any of the other 3 doors or the back hatch are opened. It can be quite annoying especially in the dark. Is this just a setting issue or something more? I get no help from either the Owners Manuel or my Haynes Manuel. Please someone out there help

Welcome to the forum. According to my 2000 wiring diagrams the generic electronic module (GEM) receives a signal from the door ajar switches: left front, right front, right rear, left rear and a combined signal for the left & right liftgate. Does the door ajar indicator on the instrument cluster illuminate when any of the above switches are open (door open)?
