Does anyone know if there are rca outs on the factory head units . I know Im being lazy but I'm sitting at work right now and got offered a real good deal on an amp . I have the am/fm cass/cd unit . Also I was wondering , I dont want to take up alot of cargo space with a bulky box for subs , whats the best way to get a little bass without sacrificeing alot of space ?

IMHO, get rid of the stock audio system and start building an aftermarket setup. While the premium setups on some Explorers are "OK", they pale in comparison to the sound quality after aftermarket head units, speakers, amps and subs. To me, adding aftermarket components to an OEM sound system isn't worth the effort.

If you're looking for just a little bass with little room, try a bazooka tube. They're not great, but they'll add just a little bass. Or you could look around for a 6.5" subwoofer. I think Kicker makes them.

to answer your question, no the factory decks do not utilize a rca signal output. If you want to slap that on the factory deck you'll need a line output converter, less the amp has speaker level inputs.

But I'd agree with celly up yonder ^^ since it seems you want to upgrade a bit?

and one more tidbit, the factory speakers, at least for my 99/premium non jbl were 3 ohm models.
