Follow KISS principle - don't overthink it - the cooling system on these trucks is more than adequate for the > 100 degree temps encountered in the PRK, while stop & go city driving, A/C on full blast.
With that said, if after replacing the fan clutch with a new one, and you're still running hot, move on and replace the thermostat.
STANT is my preferred brand of thermostat.
