2001 Explorer siphon fuel

Is there a way to siphon fuel from 01 Explorer when fuel pump has failed? Has about 12 gallons in tank. Planning on replacing pump.

My tank was full when my fuel pump died on my 96. I did the cut the floor method. I bought a siphon pump from Harbor Freight, but I didn’t know if it would reach the bottom of the tank…

No, there's an anti-siphon / anti-gas theft mechanism/screen at the end of the filler tube.

You can remove the fill tube from the tank and siphon from there

Or cut a hole in the floor and forget about dropping the tank ever again

The big benefit by dropping the tank is you have the chance to protect the frame/body/tank
against rust.

Maybe the tank strap is one the way to rust away, the tank filler neck is also a rusty cadidate,
all these things you will never check if you choose the redneck method.
