Currently changing a failed oil pump in a beautifully maintained 2002 XLT 2wd. When I am putting this thing back together, I would like to get by with just replacing the crankshaft front oil seal and timing cover gasket, with as minimal expense as possible.
How necessary are these specialty tools that help hold the cams in place while aligning the chain? Are there alternatives or any tips & tricks that will do the job just as efficiently?
Thanks,
