I recently replaced a rear timing chain on my 2002 4.0L SOHC Explorer because the tensioner was broken. We realigned the cams & crankshaft using the special Ford alignment tool. I also threw some Lucas upper cylinder lubricant & injector cleaner (one product) into the gas tank.
Now when I start the vehicle it won't run for more than a second, then shuts off. It's flooded severely after that, to the point of the spark plugs dripping wet gas when you take one out. And then it won't start again until the next day.
The scanner claims that timing is 10 degrees BTDC when I crank & try to start it after it shuts off. No codes are showing.
Ford claims misalignment of cams; I say it can't be because it starts & runs well for the second that it will run. Injectors *seem* to be working ok; I don't see how all 6 could fail at once anyway.
Anyone seen this before? Any thoughts as to whether it's a computer problem possibly? Ignition or injector problem?
I'm at my wit's end! Any suggestions or help is very welcome. Thanks!
