2006 Explorer V8
Hi. Just joined. Need some direction. I have searched the for what I need, but probably am not using the needed search words. So, here's my deal.

We have a 2002 Explorer, Eddie Bauer, V6 4.0. Standard OEM towing package for that model. We actually do a lot of towing. The original wiring harness is showing signs of use (uh, maybe abuse, too!) and we want to replace it. Can someone point me to the correct replacement harness? And where the connector is on the body? Trying to do a web search I've seen them under the body; behind the tail lights; myriad other possibilities. I could just look, I guess. But it's actually the band's towing vehicle and is not with me. I just get to do all the prep work. Appreciate any help, suggestions, etc.

Im a little confused, is there a towing light harness on the vehicle or not? I am not familiar with the 02 models, but if there is a harness, follow it up until its not damaged, buy a new pigtail and splice or solder it on. If there is no harness there, possibly an aftermarket setup made for the explorer would be better suited. Hope this helps.

Hi MG. Thanks for the reply. Not sure what there is to be confused about. We tow with the vehicle. I want to replace the harness. Maybe I should have said towing light harness. Don't want to splice. From what I've seen I should be able to replace the whole harness from bumper up to it's junction, wherever that is. Would rather do that than splice. Altho' I've spliced the harness to the trailer with no problems when I replaced that connector. Just trying to keep the connections on the vehicle side (solder, splice, etc.) to a minimum.
