2002 Steering Column plastic help.

Hello. Like a lot of 3rd Generation Explorer owners, I too have experienced the common defect of the gearstick breaking. I recently purchased this part http://www.ebay.com/itm/17082473144...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_3143wt_1088. The only problem, I have no idea how to install it. But there is a video tutorial on how to do all this but what I have no idea how to do is remove the steering wheel and the plastic surrounding cover of the steering column. Can anybody show me how?

Thanks for the info, but what I wanted to know was how to remove the plastic AROUND THE STEERING COLUMN. I also want some info on how to install that piece, if you know how to that is, onto the steering column. Thanks.

That write up will show you have to remove the plastic around the steering column.
