When I was driving home today I noticed I was slowing down even when I was on the gas. I pulled over, turned it off and started it back up, everything seemed fine until it shifted to 3rd or 4th gear, this time the O/D light was flashing quickly. It was almost like the gear wasn't even there, felt like I was in neutral.

Here's the weird part, after that I stopped, put it in park and then got up to speed and it shifted through all of the gears just fine. I drove it around for about 20 miles and never had an issue or even a hard shift not even any slippage.

Is this something I should be worried about?

Thanks.

Yes.. It is going to happen again unfortunately it is just a matter of when.
The being said I'm not exactly sure what the issue is..

How many miles on it?

How long since transmission fluid and filter was changed? Same thing happened to me last fall and after fluid/filter change hasn't happened since.

Has about 142,000 miles. Had transmission fluid changed less than 1000 miles ago.

Was that the first time it was ever changed?
Full flush?

Hate to say this, but a full flush at that many miles if it hadn't ever been changed before would do more harm than good.

Wasn't a full flush, the transmission shop owner said the same thing you did. The previous owner did have it flushed every 20K miles, with records to back it up.

Seems to drive fine today, no hard shifts or jerking. I'm wondering if it wasn't just a computer mishap or something.
