Looking into buying a 2002 eddie bauer 4.6L tow pck. . It has 85000 . Are the trannys behind the 4.6 stronger and less problematic compared to the 4.0 . Im going to buy an ext . warr. but wondering how many have had or didnt have problems .

GET the extended warranty because you will need it. Now the trannys are not any stronger, they should be the same and they have a lot of problems with servo bores and everything. If the ex is super clean and a CHEAP deal, get the warranty and get anything done as soon as you detect a problem.
