Got room for one more?
It will be interesting to see how they price it, and whether it will be only regionally avail. or throughout US. Article does say its a 03 model available this summer(02, probably 7-8 months from now)

Like the others here, Ford just isnt building what I want- super duty/ excursion excluded.

Oh yea, the article is in the Feb 2002 "Four Wheeler",
p 14 and 15

I'm a die-hard Ford man... But that thing is nice. Although honestly, my next vehicle purchase will likely be a fullsize car, but I'll keep either the Explorer or the bush rig my dad and I are planning out for off-road work. I'll never buy a new vehicle just to take off-road, but were I the sort to do that, that's what I'd buy. Ford no longer offers anything I want though, other than the 3/4 or 1 ton trucks, but if I wanted a diesel, I think I'd get a Dodge for that 5.9L Cummins. It's shameful. Why doesn't someone at Ford look at us?

Isn't it nice? Are we having some more people joining me on the dark side? ;) Just a pitty DCX does not offer a similar package for the Grand Cherokee. :D

Now it would be time for Ford to react and bring the Defender back to the U.S.

Well if I didn't have so much invested into my Explorer right now. I would seriously concider buying one of those things. Hmmm I wonder if I could put my Atlas II in it?

Not every day do you see explorers pimped out. You see ricers and everything else on that note. I like the explorer and think it looks much smoother than the durango or the older cherokee. But the new cherokee is putting a lot more competition on the explorer, in fact i like the new grand cherokee limited a LOT. It looks really nice all around. Anyways, hopefully ford will realize that if they came up with something with LESS plastic, it will be unique, maybe cost a tad more, but will differ from the other auto manufacturers

for a jeep..that thing is sweet...

if i had the money id get one of those.....
but i dont so i will just keep the X until i die.....

sheesh right from the factory with warranty too. Jeep listened to what the people want. they got it right...

maybe ford will listen and bring back the classic bronco to counter this....

Ford going the wrong way

I think Ford is going the wrong way in there ongoing effort to civilise each and every vehicule the make. I bought my 94 because it was a TRUCK, now the EX is no more than a 4WD minivan. Wy dont they bring back the "Electronic 4x4" that was offer in the Aerostar and put it into the Windstar, THAT is what 75% + people buying Explorer really need. As it is going now, when it dies it is no more Ford for me.
As for that Jeep thing, it is awsome, BUT wait till you see the price of the little beast. I'm shure that the sticker price will prevent many wheelers of buying this nice rig, as we alway say that we have no more money to upgrade???
With all that said if I had the money I would sell the Fords and buy one of these with a familly car, right now the EX is the familly/trail/grocery/fun transportation.

Im pretty sure that ford owns the right to dodge's cummins diesel motor (I read that somewhere), and Ford use International's Diesel motor. And i know that the powerstroke is one tough ****!!!

i dont think ford will be trying something new anytime soon. they are closing a plant near me ( in NJ). the plant in NJ makes ford rangers. and they are killing off a few cars (mercury cougar, lincoln continental, ford escort).
