man i need some help.... my 04 explorer keeps bringing up the same 2 cel codes 171, 174 both banks runing lean... it was bringing up the 191 for fuel rail pressure... it was running a lil crappy and sputtering on acceleration but have since replaced the fuel filter and the sputter went away and now the truck runs totally fine aside from consuming a lil more fuel but cant find the source of the problem bringing these 2 codes up... i have already replaced the MAF sensor and both upstream o2 sensors... plugs n wires n fuel filter (for the sputter problem) and unfortunately colorado is n emissions state and with the check engine light on it will not pass and am due for the test in a cpl mpnths and need this problem fixed soon lol..... anyone got any ideas??

P0191 is for low fuel pressure so that could be related to the lean codes. Alo intake gaskets could be the cause of lean codes.

yea the fuel rail pressure code went away after the fuel filter was replaced and has not come back and that was a wk n half ago but the stupid lean codes hav not went away when i erase them cuz i have a code reader and keep checking to see wht cods it brings up and every time its the 171, 174 lean on both banks

ive checked pcv hoses for leaks and found nothing tried spraying carb cleaner around the intake on a cold start to see if it effects the idle but the truck doesnt miss a beat.. the more i hear bout the commonality of the ford 4.0 intake gasket problems the more it leads me to believe thats the problem but knowing that the most problems with those was from 97-01 i guess i jus assume ford wud have done sumthing bout those by now except the fact that ford still uses basically that exact same intake which leads me back to believe that thats th problem...

yea i did and intake gasket seems to be the last thing to try especially since gaskt set is fairly cheap
