Greetings everyone,

I currently own a 2004 Fx4 auto 4.0l with the 4.10 rear. Now my manual says I can tow 5200, but I'm here to ask what is a realistic weight?

I've been looking at some of the lighter travel trailers, dry weight 2700 to 2900 16' to 19'. Assuming I set the truck up proper (electric brakes, proper hitch, and transmission cooler if needed), would the weight be to much or unruly?

Thanks all,
Val

if the manual says you can tow 5200 then you can tow up to 5200

I understand that I CAN tow that much. But hauling a trailer 100 to 500 miles over passes, 5200 may not be a good weight.

I'm just trying to get an idea from others that do tow with their Ranger, what weight is reasonable. I don't want to kill my rig, and I want to have fun going camping, not have to fight the trailer all the way there.

Thanks,
Val
