First post here. My 2005 4.0 explorer with 189,000 miles had the automatic transmission rebuilt about 29,000 miles ago.....Now in the morning, when cold, I'm in Florida keep in mind, I have to roll down the driveway wait about 2 minutes and then the drive away. The unit will not move in drive apparently till it warms up. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help?..

First thing to find out is if the fluid level is correct.

I do not see any way to check the transmission level? Do I have to take it in to a shop?

Just have a search, lots of videos on youtube. basically there is a plug you pull out of the transmission, run it in park at operating temperature on level ground. Then you install a nipple, and use a fluid pump to overfill it with mercon v fluid. Then you let it drain out until it becomes a drip. Then you know its full. Google 5r55s fluid check. The non-serviceable transmission that requires service.

Thank You so much. I appreciate your advice and I will have it done this week..
