My '06 4.0 had "the rattle" sounded like spark knock around 2k-3k rpm. 138k milage. Trying to troubleshoot it with my kid powerbraking it was useless as i could NOT narrow down WHERE the rattle was coming from. I needed to replace a head gasket anyway so moved forward with tearing it down. After pulling the v-covers off I noticed the RH TC was WAY sloppy, the plastic guide was also quite sloppy????
OUT she comes!
This kids video is GREAT. Lengthy but covers many little secret squirel stuff. Will post it later.
I am just getting started with this as step 1 is engine removal!! This is NOT for the faint at heart, there are several things that must be accepted as ...you just have to do it.
I will NOT be opening the AC unit so thats 1 less thing to "fix" later.
I chose to NOT open the PS sytem as it creates a mess.
I chose NOT to remove the tranny because you don't HAVE TOO.
As with everything I do ..."Since I'm here...." replacement stuff like the coolant lines to the oil filter, lower rad hose, water pump bypass hose to thermostat housing and anything else that looks ...MEH that is not easy to get to.
