2006 4.0 transmission interchange

Will any other transmissions work for the 06 model? Local pick and pull interchange says 06-08 exp or mounty with 4.0 but I cant really find much info on what makes them different from the 3rd gen transmissions. Tailshaft? Harness? Will it not work with ECM? 05 and older trans are a dime a dozen but 06 and newer are proving hard to come by. Thank you ahead of time.

I would get a 2006-2010 simply because they were supposedly improved.

They are way harder to find in my area and I haven't really heard of any actual improvements. I know of about 10 wrecked 03-05s at the pick and pull its 120$ for the transmission down there. Only 1 2006 in the yard and the trans is gone.

I have access to a 2002 V6 transmission for free if I pull it. They just blew the motor, and are going to junk it. I don’t want to bother pulling it if it will not help me, I’d like to keep it as a spare
