I have a 2006 Ranger STX, 3.0L with a 5R44E AT w/45k miles that has a slight 2~3 flair and ~3sec forward engagement delay. It hasn’t got any worse since I got the truck at 38K miles, just annoying. After much reading I decided to do the Superior valve body kit. I have the shift kit, and called around for the separator plate. This is where things jump off track. I have an old 05~06 Ford service DVD that covers the truck and in one place it list the plate as a "7z490", which is what I have seen in these forums, but in another place it is listed as a "7z492". The local dealers don't carry the plate, and one told me it wasn't a "serviced item", what ever that means.
Does anyone know what the "correct" part number would be, and perhaps where I could order it from? It seems that 7z490 is a good generic number, but not specific to my model. The 7z492 doesn’t even seem to exist. I have searched and searched with no clear answer. Until I get the plate, the update is on hold... Thanks
