heys guys my 2008 Ford Explorer 4.6 V8 2x4 shifts normally but when ever I come to a stop and from 10mph to 0 mph it downshifts 2 gears very close to each other Im assuming its third and second gear and it is noticeable my explorer has 109k miles and I just did a pan drop fluid change with gasket and filter and no metal particles were in the Magnet area of the pan which is a good sign and before the transmission fluid change it still did the same rough downshift so what Im thinking is I need to take it to the ford dealer so they can reset the transmission pcm so it can relearn when to shift based off of my driving style. It might need a software update I don't know. My transmission is the 6r60 if any of ya'll are expecting the same issue as I am plz let me know and how you solved it.

You could need an update or a reset of the sift patterns. You could try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or more to see if that will reset the shift patterns. Also if you have forscan and a obd2 bluetooth adapter you can reset the adaptive learning tables for the transmission yourself.

I agree with RC. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and jump it to the positive terminal for 30-45 minutes. This will clear the memory and allow the programming to relearn.
