I searched pretty heavily through here and didn't find an answer. Came close with Mohawk, but he never followed up with results. I live in a rural, no crime area. I find the vehicle anti theft systems annoying and a pain in the a$$ to deal with.

Do you know if I can program a key (not cut it), and just hide it up under the dash, and then just get a regular, flat metal key to start the car? I have two working keys. I've done this with a few VW's.

Will my other PATS keys still work with "TWO" transponders in "close proximity" to the antenna?

Thanks.

You would need to relocate the pick up ring from around the ignition lock cylinder to under the dash. Since you want to get a blank key and program it in order to do this why not just get the third key and have it cut? You can program it yourself if you have two working keys. If you lose a key you still have two so you can program again. If you keep loosing keys you have bigger issues to worry about. Doesn't seem worth the hassle if you are going to buy a blank anyway.

Yes you can, however to program you will still need 2 factory keys (not an aftermarket). you program them as usual, 1st key on until the red light on the dash goes out, key out. 2nd key same thing. now here is trick with the 3 uncut key stick it ignition and you will need to create a jumper to go from a 12+ to the ignition wire (to simulate the trucks ignition on). I would used to do this all the time for remote starts.

depends on how close. if you actually move the transponder ring from the ignition cylinder to another location then you will be ok. If you leave it then you will have issues when its starting.

Thanks.

Just wanted to follow-up on this one. I sprung for a plain cut metal key, and tried my hand at fooling the PATS. In order to get the plain metal key to start the car, a properly programmed key had to be RIGHT NEXT TO the key in the ignition. I really mean RIGHT next to it. If I was more than about 1/2 inch away, the car would not start.

Just wanted to let you folks know. ..
