My 2008 has some similar issues to what people are describing.

I frequently get little 'jumps' out of the transmission. Particularly if I have to stop quickly. It's almost as if the transmission disengages from 'drive' once the vehicle has come to a complete stop. I've had to shift to 'park' and back to 'drive' to get back in gear.

Today I spent $740 on a new radiator and the service advisor sort of suggested that Ford has acknowledged that reprogramming the computer to adjust for engine pressure as it relates to when the radiator fans kick on will help save the radiator. A blown radiator at 61,000 miles is ridiculous. Why didn't I know reprogramming the computer could have saved my radiator before it blew? (that assumes the service advisor knew what the heck he was talking about)

If anyone else has experienced this radiator issue and heard anything about the computer, I'd love to hear from you.

Does anyone know where to get a DIY service manual for the '08 Sport Trac?

Has anyone tried the GFORCE chip in their vehicle?

The big big question - how do I find out which transmission I have? My understanding is that there are two versions in the '08. I need to replace my fluid and want to do it myself. I need some info on this process. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks all!!

I have seen several references to people suffering from blown-out-radiator-itis. So you're not alone.

The 5R55S is a 5-speed and the 6R60 is a 6 speed. On you Vehicle Certification Label (door sticker) the "TR" code will tell which you have.
V — 5-speed automatic, 5R55S
X — 6-speed automatic, 6R60

A good source for OEM service manuals is e-Bay. I can send you the service process via e-mail if you'd like me to......and you still need it.

Basically if you have a V6 it will have the 5-speed and if you have a V8 it will have the 6-speed.
