I have a 2010 Ford Explorer and I can no longer switch the vent control off of defrost. After looking around I have found that the vent actuator is broke off under the dash. It allows you to select which way the air is coming out. I don’t think it’s my blender door as the heat and cold switch fine. I believe it’s called the vent actuator. The question I have is it hard to fix and I can’t seem to find any video on how to fix it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

To replace it by a shop is very expensive because it requires dismantling the dash. However, there are a ton of YouTube videos covering other options to consider in dealing with this problem.. I suggest going there and watch several videos to get an idea of the problem and the options to deal with a broken blend door.

So it’s a blend door or vent actuator? So I know what to look for on YouTube.

Try "ford explorer vents stuck on defrost"

If there is enough of the broken lever left, you can drill a hole in it and bolt or zip tie the actuator on. Or you can use a small washer and some JB Weld and attach that to the lever to give you a hole to attach the actuator to.
