My question is about the best way to remove the engine from a 2011. The shop manual calls for doing it from the bottom and I did this on a '08 Taurus but in the end I think it would have been easier to take it out the top. I know I have to remove the hood and make sure I have overhead clearance but this seems easier than dealing with the suspension sub assembly - it was a pia on the Taurus. Has anyone done it either way?

btw - the reason for the engine swap is that the water pump failed and got coolant into the oil, resulting in a sludged mess.

Got access to a lift?

If you got a lift I would definitely say bottom and just drop the whole chassis assembly out.

I think if you pull it from the top you are gonna have so much time involved removing pieces while it is in the vehicle just to get clearance.

Did you remove the Engine from the top? if so was it hard? any tricks or advice?

Whole engine/trans/subframe can be sitting on a cradle in a few hours using a lift. I couldn't imagine doing it without a lift.
