2011 Explorer XLT
Good Evening,

I purchased a 2011 Explorer XLT 4wd w/42k miles for $13k out the door from a Ford dealership instead of a 2025 Bronco with all the bells and whistles ($60K) for my wife/newborn. In my opinion, it's in mint condition after some cosmetic work I had done to it, but I wanted to get a second opinion from others on whether I should continue fixing it up or move on.

Work I had done:

-Removed all rust: RhinoLine $1400
- New sunroof/seal: Warranty Ford Dealership $0
-New Front Pillars: Warranty Ford Dealership $0
-Rough Country 2" loaded strut lift/level: Parts: $800.00 Install: $950

Issues:

-"Check Brake System": P-Break light notification: This appeared after I had the "rustification" job done by RhinoLine, which makes me think it's a sensor issue due to an over spray. Break fluid is full and P-brake switch works fine. This Notification/light comes on randomly and goes away. Im prepared to just have the whole brake system replaced but just wanted to check to see if that's necessary.

-No Back Seat AC: AC works fine in the front but the back seat is not getting cold air. Its flowing air but not cold, all the switches/buttons are in the right setting.

Thank you for your input.

Respectfully,

Josh

Welcome to the Forum, Josh.
I hope the message says Check Brake System. Very common spelling error on the forum.
If everything was okay before getting the vehicle sprayed, it could be a sensor issue but I'm not sure where to start looking. Do you have a trouble code (DTC)? If you don't have a code reader, places like Autozone will check it for free.
In regards to the rear seat cooling, have you confirmed that it does in fact have that feature?

Peter

In my 2015 I can control the rear HVAC from the console from the second row if I go to the screen on the dash and turn on rear controls or I can control it from the screen. Make sure you have it set to cold and try both controls. If not maybe the blend door in the rear is not closing. Does it blow heat out of the rear? The a/c lines can be seen under the rear left side see if they are getting cold.

Also as Peter suggested read owners manual on the a/c completely and see if its operator error. If the front gets cold freon and compressor is good. There is no shut off for coolant or freon to the back that i know of.

Peter,

Thank you for the spell check. I don't have a code reader and no Autozones (I live on an Island). All the AC setting front/rear are on the same settings.

Ironworker40,

I have checked all the settings. Heat seems fine, but we are also in summer... I will look into the Actuator avenue.
I found this as well, could be it?
