Anyone else have problems with their GPS in 2012 explorer?

Tried master reset and disconnecting the battery with no luck

GPS still thinks I'm 60 miles away at the dealership where I bought it. Screen shows GPS with a red X through it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Welcome to the Forum Adam.
If you have that red X showing that indicates that your GPS is not connected to any of the satellites. Did this just start?

There is a TSB out for this... essentially the GPSM needs new software. Don't remember the TSB ## but it should be easily searched with the forum's search function.

Thanks for the reply!

Here's the story......

I bought it used and it didn't have the SD card at the time so I didn't tinker with the navigation at all. A couple months later, I bought the 2017/2018 Nav SD card and expected it to work, only to find out that it apparently has no GPS connection.

So long story short.... I really don't know if its had this problem forever and I'm just the lucky new recipient????

Of course the dealership has been no help and my local ford dealership wants $100 just to run diagnostics!

Thanks again for any help!

Adam

A TSB is a Technical Services Bulletin and is performed for free as long as the vehicle is under warranty. The following TSB applies to Explorers built before May 14, 2012. 2011 + Explorer TSB's & SSM's
The TSB can still be done if that is the problem but at the owner's expense. Have you tried doing a Master Reset?

Oh, that makes sense, I'll check it out.

Yeah I did do a master reset and tried disconnecting/reconnecting the battery. both to no avail.

Thanks a million!
