Hi guys, first post here. I just ordered a 2014 Sport and am looking for info on the headlights and I can't make heads or tails of the stock 2014 Sport headlights based on the threads I can find, so I have a couple questions.

1. Are the headlights on the '14 Sport HID?
2. If they are, can the bulbs be replaced with a 6000k or does it need a full kit to do this?

Thanks in advance. Art

Only the 'Lmited' comes with HID.

It's kind of odd to me. A lot of people who soup up their cars put on HIDs so I would assume Sporty people sport the HIDs. Then again, it's also a luxury item. However, I think both the Limited and the Sport should have HIDs. Plus it makes the Explorer that much hotter. If I saw a Sport with HIDs, I'd be like damn, Ford has some hot cars coming out. It's street talk and word of mouth.

I agree. Dont see the reason why the Sport wouldnt have hids.

it's pretty stupid, but nope no HIDs for the sport. I put a TRS 5000k kit in our 13 sport and it performs great. And probably better off in the big picture anyway because I'm sure it would have been a $400+ if it were an option on the sport, and the TRS kit was only $150.

As others have indicated, the Sport does not come with HID lamps. I believe in the U.S. that it is still an option on the Limited whereas in Canada HID lamps are standard on the Limited.
Although I have the HID's, I think that to some degree they are overrated.
There are still other 'luxury' brands, including Cadillac, coming out with projector halogen headlights while there also seems to be a gradual shift to LED headlights.

It's street talk. People go like, "OMG your car has HIDs, that's so legit!" Something to do with picking up girls and looking cool lol.

My last car had HID and AFS... in 45000 miles, I had one complete assembly replaced and 2 bulbs otherwise.
Never picked up girls from having them though.:D

My 2004 Bimmer came with HIDs! The big three are really behind in the light tech as usual!

Big reason I ended up buying X3 over explorer were the adaptive xenon lights on X3 and you can't get "factory anything light upgrade" from Ford. Other reason was dealers didn't care enough to call me back and sell me a car.

I have a 2015 Sport. I bought a HID kit off Amazon & the right side beam was scattered all over the place. I have LED's now but with same results. Was told I need projector headlights. What's that mean exactly & where can I get some ?

Your Sport has OEM Halogen projectors. What you are perhaps referring to is changing them for HID projectors as they are different, but you're talking about LED. The 'projector' is the internal part that is used to project and focus the light beam. Changing them entails opening the headlight assembly. There have been many members that have installed LED without any apparent issues. If it is the right headlight that is the problem in either case, perhaps there is a problem with it.

Yes Peter, I want HID projectors but don't wanna go through the baking process. Can u just buy the headlights that will work with HID's ? I see on ebay people selling OEM headlights anywhere from $80-300

This company has been mentioned here; https://www.theretrofitsource.com/
If buying from eBay ensure it is OEM HID that you're getting. Most conversions here lately have been to LED.
