2014 Sport with 108,000 miles. When I slow down from 60+mph, the transmission shifts harshly on the downshift at 40mph. Also, if I am cruising around in a parking lot at low speeds - 10mph, as an example, and it's in first gear and then shifts to second, it's rough.

In both cases, you can "feel" the transmission moving around in the car - it jars it just a bit and makes a mechanical clunk noise.

I had the fluid changed 20k ago and there was no real change. It was in for another item and the dealer claims they updated the computer on the tranny. I also did the disconnect on the battery with no improvement.

It feels like the mounts are loose, for one. From there, something is just "off" and causing it to jump into the next gear too quickly rather than smoothly. The dealer claims the mounts are solid, though.

Any thoughts?

There is a TSB for the 40mph trans jerk. My 11 had it, software update fixed it.

There is also a TSB for the 5mph jerk.. sesrch the TSBs in this forum.

My Explorer had the 40mph jerk.. almost feels like a slam.. as in the trans just fell off the vehicle onto the ground lol.

I had the downshift slam and thought something broke also.
Now the Sport is in the shop for a new tranny due to shuddering that was noticed by the Tech during a test drive after replacing the PTU.

Mine goes in next Thursday for the PTU, oil leak and EPAS (hopefully water pump too). I wouldnt mind a new tranny lol.

It is definitely a blessing in disguise that the tranny and ETB issues were discovered by the tech during a test drive.
Hopefully yours isn't smelling too much.
According to the tech, mine still smells, but he said it should burn off "eventually".

Got mine back. They updated the computer based on a TSB they said applied. For the first 25 miles it was shifting very firm on the upshifts. I think it was still learning my style as that smoothed out on a second start later in the day.

It’s now shifting better on the downshifts, but that shift at 40 - when you are slowing down from, say 60mph - is still rough. You can feel it happen. It kicks the vehicle a bit. They said the mounts are solid, too. Not sure what to make of it. Drive it until it fails, I guess...?
