I have searched the forums and googled the question, even asked AI... and I get a few threads that are about reprogramming the low gear button. I am trying to find out if everyone who bought a decommissioned FPIU had their low gear button disabled. Is there a reason it is disabled, like to prevent accidental engagement during a pursuit? I'm just trying to wrap my head around why it would be disabled if it served a function, like for towing, or to get more toque with poor road conditions.

Anyone know why and how it is typically disabled? I've heard some people say it was programming, and others found wires severed somewhere in their steering column.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

It's specifically there to be used during pursuit, to get the max torque (for accelerating AND engine braking) without moving your foot from the gas pedal. It's NOT for towing or poor road conditions.

Mine wasn't & isn't disabled, even though I swapped to a floor shifter. I wired up the (-) button to that circuit.
