On our 2016 Limited, on a clear day, without a cloud in the sky, the windshield wiper will occasionally and randomly, sweep across the windshield.
The second issue is that the lane keeping feature randomly turns off, and gives you no warning is you wander out of the lane, but do it a couple of times, it will bring up the rest message with the coffee cup. For a couple of weeks this can happen, and then it will start working like normal again. It is a random problem, like the windshield wiper. It has been into the dealership for the lane change issue, and they reprogrammed the car, but the problem continues. Any suggestions? thanks

Windshield wipers thing does randomly happen every once in a great while. I think has something to do with the strong reflection off the sun shining on the sensor behind the rear view mirror.

They had a lot of issues when the 5th gen came out and Ford was replacing the module (tsb on it). But this was back 5 years ago. If it happens frequently, Id ask the module be replaced BUT once in a blue moon seems to be normal.

Most vehicles with rain sensing wipers will do this occasionally. It's nothing to worry about.

Mine did it today and it was a clear sunny day. My previous 2011 Limited did it as well even after replacing the affected module and my previous 2014 MKT did it as well. When it happens, I just say "Thank you".:)

This is why my auto-wiper function has been turned off by me. It doesn't wipe as i would use the wipers and no chance for them going across a sandy/dirty Arizona windshield.
