I have an 18 Platinum that over the past few thousand miles has developed an irritating rattle that happens above 40 mph only. 54k miles.
It seems to be emanating from the front defroster vents. I have tried to blow whatever is in there out and vacuum them as well to no avail.
I inserted a boroscope down the vents and saw nothing.

The dash and vents seem pretty secure and do not appear to be rattling themselves.

Has anyone be suffered the same problem and if so, how did you fix it?

Have you eliminated the outside cowl as a possible issue?

Peter

I have examined it and it does not appear loose...but it's hard to tell at 45mph.

I did check the A pillar and the defrost vents cover. I wonder if the vents themselves are vibrating.

Looking for some thin self-adhesive cellular foam to see if that stops the rattling.

That appears to be the issue. It actually looks worn at the edges.

I wish I could take it off to put new foam underneath it.

I folded mine backwards and tucked it in. I have never heard a sound from it since.
