If you really like the looks of having big wheels go for it, but there are some disadvantages to having large wheels. The weight of the wheels will cause your engine not to be able to spin them as fast as the stock ones, the weight of the wheels will also cause the unsprung weight of the suspension to change, which will make for some different suspension characteristics, and it will also cause you to have a rougher ride than before because there is less sidewall to "flex" when going over bumps and such.

18s are big enough for the sports I think.... How did you lower your ride? I am really interested in lowering mine!

personally, i think explorers are too small to put 20s on..... i know it is done a lot..... but an 18 is a much more advisable/common/cheaper size to put on and deal with.....

20's are good but they definately have some disadvantages. It depends if you're getting rims just to floss or getting them for looks and functionality. Don't expect to pull next to a Honda at the stoplight and be able to race.

Wheel size

I agree on the 18's. Personally, I can't stand that giant 20"-23" look with the rubber band tires...just do not look good on X's. When I see these running around town it reminds me of a covered wagon! 18" is as big as I would go on my X!! Just my thoughts

This may be a little hard core, but real men don't ride on teenage rims :D

So I say if you are gonna rim it up, go all out.

Oh boy......don't make your decisions based on what a rapper says, PLEASE DON'T!

Videos and rap music/culture are really having a negative effect on some segments of our society.

But to answer the question, I prefer 18s, but go for what you like, its YOUR X!

Please...
everything has a negative effect on our society in some way, shape or form. You cant pin point it on one culture/genre of music.
Like Manson doesnt have a negative effect on society!!.. WIERDO!!!

Looks like sideswipe is trying to stir it up.. lol

If you like the look of 20's... go for it.. if the ride will bother you, go for 18. They will both look damn good!

Umm yeah, Marilyn probably does too.....

But that teenage rim business is straight from hip hop, trust me, I listen to it! Besides, what does your rim size have to do with your manhood? umm..maybe I should rephrase that...lol

I'm sure red96camaro was kidding anyway...

Wheels

I agree about the big wheel thing....straight from hip-hop/rap!!! The only X's around here running anything bigger than 18's are the local thugs with that god-awful, irritating droning bass vibrating every panel on the truck!! In fact you can spot the local pimps/thugs cruising Waikiki....just look for an Escalade/Tahoe/Expedition/etc., with the 20"-23" inch rims....lol

my goped has 3" mag rims and 10" tires! ;)

Taking the qoute was kidding but I do believe 20s would look best. Might be just me though. :D

If I was to have a srteet truck I would fit the bigeest I possibly could.

I think Red is running some like roller blade wheels on his X... LOLOLOL

cute, real cute, i ride teenage rims but my tires are full grown, lol :D

the way i see things you either should go with 22s or you should go with 17s or 18s. go with the smaller ones for better performance or if your gonna go big go as big as you can fit on the x and still drive. there's really not much sense going in the middle, 'cause it won't perform as well and well 20s just no longer stun the way they used to so you need to go bigger if you want to bling

yeah i think i will go with 18's and i lowered mine in the front by taking the torchin bolts out which is what it wa called for when i got the lowering kit from STEEDA that lowerd my rear 1.5" with new leaf springs and all.
