My stock tire size on our 2004 4.6 Limited is 245/6517. It is a 2WD with a 3.73 Limited Slip axle.

Will it be OK to use 245/70/17 tires instead of the stock tire size? Will it damage the rear end or otherwise be a problem on this vehicle? Will the speedometer be off significantly and will the handling be different? Thanks in advance. Mike

Shouldn't be a problem; move from 65 to 70 cross-section should not be enough taller to even notice in handling, nor effect speedo much.

Edit: Ran numbers in Tacoma tire calculator - speed overstates by 3.3%. Indicated 65 MPH will be actual 67.12 MPH.

Thanks so much for the above information. I have decided to stay with the original OE size, 245/65/17 and ordered a set of Michelin LTX/MS tires today in that size.
