Is there anything on the 2nd gen’s, that fit our 1st gen’s that’s worth swapping over?

From what I know, not really. Body panels changed, etc. I personally like both the 1st and 2nd gen seats. The only thing Id do if tou have the a4ld is do a franken trsnnt if you run into a4ld woes

I’ve got the manual trans. The 4th gen mirrors are better than the 3rd gen and are a direct swap, was looking for stuff like that.

Though, if seats swap over, that could be okay.

Rear disc brakes and the factory 16" wheels are 2 things I have swapped into my 1st gen from a 2nd gen.
How difficult was the rear brake swap? Did you have to change anything else in the braking system?

I’ve done the Aviator front brakes upgrade on my 3rd gen.

Yes when you install the rear discs you also need the master cylinder swapped as well, the proportioning to the rear are way different

96-01 (02-05 sport trac too) Heated seats, power seats, leather seats and seat belts can be fitted,
Sport trac rubber floor can be used
Mirrors w puddle lamps
You may not realize it but your doors are the same and the hatch stayed the same till 98

And the 5.0 of course lol you can get a v8 from a gen ii and use that

I’ve done the Aviator front brakes upgrade on my 3rd gen.

I swapped the entire axle out with one from a 2nd Gen instead of converting my existing axle. The 2 things I had to do was splice the e-brake cable with a turnbuckle and some cable clamps and then I also had to modify the brakelines on the axle to use the 1st gen center mount junction block which also requires using a passenger side brake hose with flipped bracket to the driver side caliper. You can use the 2nd gen brakelines, it was just my personal preference to do it the way I did. I retained my 91 master cylinder and have never had issues with brake bias but as 410 pointed out some people do also swap master cylinders.

with the 94 master I found my rear discs would drag after a hard stop
I drove it this way for about 3 years
I finally went to a 95 master cyl with no cruise and the difference in the rear discs was quite noticeable, I had way more control of the back tires, especially when dropping down ledges
I would highly recommend the change!
