I havent really noticed any flare ups in 2nd, I will look for them now though. I did look at the valve body when I dropped the pan, and I didnt notice any lose bolts, but I dont have an inch pound torque wrench so I couldnt really check.
Could I use a foot pound torque wrench on it? When I replaced the filter, I searched and couldnt find the torque specs for the valve body so I didnt mess with it.
I wish it would just set a code so I could know what the heck is going on...
On the bright side, after resinstalling the 2nd filter, flushing the transmission fluid (it was pretty dark but not burnt), and adding some Lucas Transmission stuff (looks like red molassas), the whine sound is slowly going away. I only really hear it when I gun it up past 3000 rpm's.
I think the fluid was shot and was causing the torque converter to slip at high rpm's. This caused a loss of power at high RPM's and the whine noise. With thicker? fluid, it grabs the torque converter better and transfers torque??
